The Odd Duck Inn, located near Kyle, South Dakota in the heart of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, offers traditional Native American hospitality. Indian owned and operated by Oglala Lakota tribal member Tilda Long Soldier and Mark St. Pierre, this cross between an Inn and a Bed & Breakfast sits on the historic Big Foot Trail (leading to Wounded Knee) in the beautiful Red Owl Springs Valley. This beautiful and quiet sight was allotted to Oglala Lakota, Cloud Horse Woman, Tilda's great grandmother. It sits on the sight of Little Warrior's cabin. Johnson Little Warrior, who died in 1953, was one of the last living survivors of the Custer Battle. It was their daughter Sadie who raised your hostess Tilda Long Soldier-St. Pierre. This hidden treasure of a Bed and Breakfast offers remote privacy and relaxation along with an amazing range of possible activities. (see list below)
Yours for a day or a week, the Odd Duck Inn is a self-contained three-bedroom, two bath home equipped with central air, laundry, dishwasher and a full kitchen. Tilda is a fluent Lakota language speaker and a museum quality traditional artisan, listed as a Master Artisan by the South Dakota Arts Council.
Assisting Tilda is her husband Mark St. Pierre, internationally renowned writer on Native People. All guests desiring so, receive an orientation to the Pine Ridge Reservation and important regional attractions. You can sleep away your whole vacation or take advantage of a wide range of exciting activities.
